Lack of land space is a serious problem for us because Singapore has a land area of only 581.5 sq km in 1960. Population increases due to
natural and importation of foreign talents and foreign workers as well as
growing industries and businesses, and this increases the demand for more land. This
pushes up land price which means high property cost which may make Singapore an
expensive place to set up business in, forcing companies to establish themselves elsewhere. The problem of lack of land will hamper the growth of Singapore into a vibrant global city. Thus, there is an urgent need for the Singapore government to increase land supply in Singapore, so as to cater to the growing needs of Singaporeans and for economic expansion.
